Among the 277 higher secondary colleges of the capital, only seven colleges have been placed in the A plus or ideal category by getting more than 85 percent marks. Daily Shiksha.com College Ranking 2023 was announced in an event organized at Vishwa Sahitya Center Auditorium in the capital on Friday afternoon.
The ranking is finalized through site inspection and survey based on separate questionnaires from the authorities, students and parents of the colleges. Dainik Shikshada.com and Dainik Umar Barta conducted the survey work. A group of energetic and talented students from Institute of Education and Research (IER) of Dhaka University participated in the survey work.
A-plus category colleges are - Notre Dame College, Dhaka Residential Model College, Adamji Cantonment College, Holy Cross College, Dhaka College, Rajuk Uttara Model College and St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School.
Apart from this, 36 colleges with 75 to 84 per cent marks have been placed in very good or A category, 19 in B category (good) with 65 to 74 per cent marks and seven in C category with 50 to 64 per cent marks. However, in the field survey conducted in 69 educational institutions, no college was found to be placed in D category by getting marks below 50 percent.

St. Francis Xavier's Girls' School and College, Mohammadpur Women's College; Udayan Higher Secondary School, University Laboratory School and College, Government Mohammadpur Model School and College, Dhaka Education Board Laboratory School and College, BCIC College, Harun Mollah Degree College, Mirpur Science College, Mirpur Bangla School and College, Ahsania Mission School and College, Duaripara Government College, Government Rupnagar Model School and College, Gulshan Commerce College, Dhaka City College; Engineering University School and College, Hazrat Shah Ali Mahila College, Lalbagh Government Model School and College and Siddheshwari College.
B category colleges are- Uttara United College, Tejgaon Women's College, Dhaka Women's College, MileStone College, Ideal College (Dhanmondi), Central Women's College, Azimpur Government Girls' School and College, Motijheel Model School and College, Kishloy Girls' School and College, Bashir Uddin Ideal School and College, Pallabi Degree College, Government Bangabandhu College, Sabujbagh Government College, Habibullah Bahar College, Abujar Giffari College, Alhaj Maqbul Hossain College, Rampura Ekramunnesa Degree College and Dhaka Imperial College.
Category C has- Pogoz Laboratory School and College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Khilgaon Model School and College, New Paltan Line School and College, HR Memorial Degree College, Haji Salim Degree College and Dr. Malika College
The survey collects information based on 21 criteria such as admission rate, pass rate and results, physical infrastructure, teacher-student ratio, extra-curricular activities, playgrounds, library, club activities etc. in higher education institutions of the colleges. Student and parent evaluations are also taken.
