Educational institutions get 2-day weekly holiday

Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni said that educational institutions will be open 5 days a week. Meanwhile, the remedial classes that were supposed to be held will also continue.

He said this at the National Mourning Day program organized by Daffodil Institute of IT in the capital on Monday.

He said, the weekend was planned to be two days. And it was approved by the Prime Minister. In the ongoing situation, the educational institution will be closed for two days a week, Friday and Saturday. Some said whether Thursday-Friday can be closed or not. But in our country, parents of many families are working. Considering that, I have decided to close schools and colleges on Friday and Saturday.

Dipu Moni said to the teachers, not all employees work for 6 days. A large part works for 5 days. But our teachers work 6 days a week. From now on, if they get a two-day weekend, they will work with full enthusiasm. In this, the speed of education will not decrease but may increase.

In response to the question of whether it will save energy or not, he said that a large part of the daily traffic in Dhaka city is used to transport children to and from school. If it is off for a day, it will definitely save fuel. Also, electricity will also be saved if the educational institution is closed for a day.

A huge traffic jam is created due to the opening of offices and schools at the same time in Dhaka. Asked if there will be any change in the schedule of schools and colleges in view of this, Dipu Moni said, for now we do not want to change the class routine. We will look at the situation and then take action with a plan.

In the speech of the chief guest, the education minister said that many people say that the standard of education has gone down. But I don't see it. Many people say that the quality of education in the capital is different from that in the village. So if it was, then only Dhaka students would have done well in various Olympiads. But we see that Khulna, Sylhet and district level students also do well in these competitions.

National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Moshiur Rahman said, Bangabandhu had to stay in prison for 12 years for where we are today. From that prison he weaved the map of this country. An egalitarian society was Bangabandhu's dream.

At the end of the program, the Minister of Education distributed laptops among the talented students of Daffodil Institute of IT. Deepu Moni.

Daffodil chairman presided over the event. Md. Sabur Khan Daffodil's executive officer also said. Nuruzzaman, Professor Dr. Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain, DIT Governing Body Head Professor Dr. SM Mahfuzur Rahman and others.
